Increasing traffic on websites

So let's start off with the thing that have happened, I took a cab using Uber to Bukit Bintang and I met this driver as he is an IT consultant so why not I ask for some of his help as I'm starting up my own online clothing business. I told him about my ideas on how I want to start my online business and what I am doing. In my business I am going to become a reseller selling product of different clothing brands that I will present on my website and start selling it. After me telling him about my ideas he told me that I am selling other peoples product with my own domain and I earn a little from it which it is true and having low traffic when a business just start up and it might be 0 traffic visiting your website because there are millions of website selling products. I told him I'm gonna use Google advertising and Facebook advertising to increase the traffic of my website as that is what most online business is doing right now but one thing he told be that it really affected my thoughts that there are  thousand or millions of people using the Google and Facebook advertising why mine stands out of other advertiser? He told me that as I am making my own website selling other people clothing brand product why don't I create a product that sell in a website that is well know like Zalora or Lazada as my first step by putting the brand name on the clothing that selling in those well known website then if the product have well supported by the customers then start your own website as this helps you to take the traffic from the websites that have already have a huge number of people visiting their websites and buying from them. From that point I can take the traffic to my website selling my own product and other brands by having a good amount of traffic as the brand that have been made have known by the consumer in the well know websites.
